Why am I here?
February 22, 2011

I was inspired by Cory William and a post by Nandita Prakash to ask myself a question “Why am I here?” I’d very much like to know the reason why I’m here. In the world. Without the answer to my question I feel like  I am a nomad. I feel like i’m just wandering without any reason. Why do I wake up every morning and sleep every night only to wake up again to the same world? Same Life? Same people? We go about our daily lives just going about our daily lives. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time when I did something for the first time. I can’t remember the last time I tried to figure out my Life. But I guess that’s how it is meant to be. I guess all that is a part of a bigger plan that the supreme power has in store for me. I may not know what that is, and I think we just, sort of, know what it is at the right time, at the right moment what our purpose in Life is. We all want to aim high, reach for the stars, we want to become Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers so and so, but have we ever, even once, want to become mere humans? Have we even tried to become humans? I mean, yes, we are humans, speaking literally, but is it all that there is to the word “Human”? “Human” is what i’ll try to be till I know my real purpose in Life. “Human” is what i’ll try to be till I know why I am here. And I don’t want to know what the exact answer will be to my question. I’ll just wake up every morning, sleep every night, survive another day, live my Life and dream, till I know the answer. Till then, I’ll dream of a world where there’s no violence, hatred, destruction or injustice. A world where you know who you are. A world where you know why you are there. A world, where, when one asks you “Who are you?’ You answer ” I am Human.”

My Hero, My Inspiration
February 20, 2011

Like Michael Jackson, John F Kennedy, Tupac Shakur and many others, Martin Luther King Jr. is my hero. He has inspired millions of people around the world- not only Americans and Africans- but people all over the planet. Today, when I listen to his speeches on racism, love, hate and peace, it makes me feel sad. It makes me hate the world sometimes. It makes me think  “What is wrong with the world?” . It makes me think “Where is the love?” The world would be a better place if nobody hated. The world would be a better place if more people thought like him. The world would be a better place if there aren’t so many lies covering the truth. We live in challenging times. And it just isn’t a matter of who’s going to survive. Its the matter of who’s going to live. Sadly, not many people know the difference between surviving and living. I never could tell the difference between the both till a dew days ago. The moment I heard Martin Luther King Jr. say the words  “I have a dream”, I knew what I wanted from my Life. The real purpose of my Life may not be clear to me yet, but lets leave that to tomorrow. What I wanted from today, I knew. I said to myself  “I am going to live everyday. Not merely survive it”.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only Light can do that.

Hate cannot drive out Hate. Only Love can do that.

An Eagle soars
January 24, 2011

Topic #25 and Bonus topic by  Daily Post :

Hm..Hard to say. I have a lot of favorite sounds. The best of them all is when the wind blows over  the mountain tops as an eagle soars through the sky at dusk. I wish I could listen to that type of a sound. Unfortunately, I live in the city where I don’t get to listen to that kind of a sound. Sometimes, when I drive to the countryside, I love how the fields seem like they never end. And yet, I never heard that kind of a sound till now. But, as I said, I like other sounds as well. Like the waves lapping up on the shores, the sound my feet make when I walk on sand, my mother’s voice [haha] so on and so forth. I wish; I hope, someday I get to listen to the sound I keep dreaming about.

You can put wings on a pig. But that doesn’t make it an eagle.

Light up the Darkness
January 23, 2011

Now that I am kinda relaxed, I get to think of many things. (Paul Collier’s music really works :P). Its just that we have such a busy life that we don’t see the beauty of the world in plain sight. Every thing that is around us is beautiful in its own way. We pass by the same old tree everyday and think “Oh the same old tree” or don’t think of anything at all. But what if you were born yesterday and you get to see the world today? Everything is so beautiful. Even a log of wood. Overtime, we get too involved with our own lives that we do not think of the life around us.

Say you are huge, look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun
Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky
Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant’s eye
I am just a speck of dust inside a giant’s eye
Did you ever glance around to take a look at the life around you? Did you ever find trees speaking to you when you sit under it thinking you are all alone? Did you ever find yourself talking about the creatures that cannot speak? Did you ever think of what these creatures might say if they had a chance to speak? Did you ever glance behind to find yourself looking at a log of wood or a bird or a dog? Did you ever think of anything else than your own life? At least for a moment?Did you ever find beauty in the simplest of things? Did you ever do anything like speaking without uttering a word?
The world may be beautiful to you in many ways. But what’s important is that understanding between you and the life around you. You aren’t a stranger in an unknown land. Some try to separate human beings and animals. Well, I’d say Human Beings are just animals who can speak. There are many unknown things in this world of ours. But we need not try to find out the answer. We are so busy looking everywhere else for the answer when it is right in front of us. Everyone is capable of seeing the answer to every question unknown. Its just that only a few of them “want” to.
People are always looking for the “answers”.What is the question? Is it about the vastness of the Universe? Is it about the number of stars in the sky? Is it about what happens after we die? Is it about what we don’t see? Or is it something much simpler?
I’ll leave the answer to you. Maybe, some things are better left in the great unknown. Maybe we’re still living in a dark world. Maybe all we have to do is to Light up the Darkness. Maybe then, we can find out what is illuminated by the light.

Hold fast to dreams
January 18, 2011

A picture can speak a thousand words. True. Dreams, help me stay alive in this Reality. What is Reality anyway? Its nothing without Dreams.

Hold fast to dreams,

For if dreams die,

Life is a broken winged bird ,

That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams,

For when dreams go,

Life is a barren field,

Frozen with snow.

Langston Hughes

When I die, will they cry?
January 18, 2011

“Death”, to some, is scary. I ask them why and they say they don’t know why. So, I  guess they just fear the unknown. What happens after we die? We go home. To where we belong. We go back to that place where we were before Life on Earth. This world, is just an illusion. You can see the building in the far off distance, but you cannot see the brutal crime being committed in that building. So, “dying” is a far better thing to do after living in a world covered with lies. When I die, I do not want my loved ones to weep. As Mary Elizabeth Frye said, I’m not at the grave. I’m merely home away form home.

Do you believe in God?
January 15, 2011

This has always been a sensitive topic to me. Do I believe in God? I am a monotheist. The God I believe in, does not have any name. Its simply an entity to whom I refer to as “God”. Do you believe in God? Is there a thing such as a supreme power? To me, absolutely. I have often wondered about the Planets in space and what made them hang like that in space. I know there is a scientific explanation to this, but what if that isn’t enough? What if there is another huge body of energy holding all the things together? Like, if it wasn’t there, everything would fall apart and be destroyed? That is what I refer to as God. The Generator, The Operator, The Destroyer. The concept of Heaven and Hell is a little bizarre to me. Yes, I do believe that man has to punished or rewarded for his deeds on the Earth, but I believe that happens on a higher spiritual plane. I believe in reincarnation. Between two births, maybe man is the one who punishes himself or rewards himself for his deeds on the Earth, by means of understanding and correcting his mistakes and being sure not to commit them again in the next life. Well, back to God. Faith, is of utmost importance to me.

Faith, is taking the first step, even when you cannot see the whole staircase.”

So when I ask myself again, “Who is God?” or “What is God?” or rather “Do you believe in God?”, I always remember a quote by someone who I do not know [unfortunately]

It doesn’t matter whether you believe in God or not, What matters is what you believe about God.

If I only had an hour to live
January 15, 2011

Bonus Topic by Daily Post

If I only had an hour to live, I’d go around hugging people, unknown people, and I’d come back and blog about it. (hahaha) You know, if people didn’t take it in the wrong way, the world would be a happier place with people hugging each other rather than waging wars and establishing New World Orders. I dream of a place like that. But I wish I had the power to change it to reality. That’s one thing that I want to do before I die. Make the world a better place. At least, that’s one thing I want to be remembered for-my contribution to the society- to the world.

If I had a time machine
January 15, 2011

So this was the topic by http://dailypost.wordpress.com/

Topic #15:

Here’s today’s topic idea:

If you had a time machine that only let you spend one hour in a different time, what date would you go to?

Reminder: Do not answer this in the comments. That would be very silly. You should grab this topic and write a post about it on your blog.

If I had an hour in an entirely different time, I’d go back to June 25th 2009, and spend that time with Michael Jackson.
